King Solomon Suite
For Young Band (Grade I)
"At Fiesta Texas, the kids were going around humming the third movement (so was I). Actually, when we were in line for the raft ride, we each took a different part and sang it." - Aimee Evans, Music and Band, Summit Christian Academy, Cedar Park, Texas, on the Summit Christian Academy Edition of King Solomon Suite

I. Royal Procession
Just before he died, David appointed his son Solomon to be King over Israel. To announce the good news, he declared that there should be a royal procession. Trumpets blew and all the people shouted “Long live King Solomon!” Solomon sat on the throne of his father David.

II. Solemn Prayer
Solomon asked God to give him wisdom and knowledge so that he would be a good ruler over his people. God replied, “Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself a long life or riches or for the life of your enemies, I have done what you asked, but I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor like no king who has gone before you nor who will come after you.”

III. Royal March
Solomon set about building the temple in Jerusalem which his father David had wanted to build. Solomon made silver and gold as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones. He brought materials and hired craftsmen from around the world to build the magnificent temple of the Lord God of Israel on Mount Moriah inside the city of Jerusalem.
